Lake Oswego Chinese Immersion Preschool Opening June 2

The Bodhi Tree Center is pleased to announce that starting June 2, 2009, we will offer a second location of our Mandarin Chinese Immersion Preschool, in Lake Oswego -- 1111 Country Club Road, Lake Oswego, OR 97034 (at the United Church of Christ)). This location is ideal for families with preschool age children in the Lake Oswego, West Linn, Tigard and Tualatin areas.

The program will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (3 days a week) from 9:30 am - 12 noon (half day) for preschoolers, children ages 3-5. Children will learn Mandarin Chinese through singing, dancing, playing, fun and games, arts and crafts, outdoor and other activities. The focus is on developing conversational skills in Mandarin Chinese; some Chinese characters will be introduced. Children will learn Mandarin much as they learn their first language.

Open House: Mandarin Chinese Preschool in Lake Oswego

The Bodhi Tree Center will be holding an Open House on Wednesday, May 13, 6-8 pm, at the new Lake Oswego location of the Bodhi Tree Center.

This is a good opportunity for families of preschool age children, living in the Lake Oswego, West Linn, Tigard, and Tualatin areas particularly, to visit, meet the teachers, and get familiar with the Mandarin Chinese Immersion preschool starting in June. Spring-Term Adult Language Classes
We are now enrolling for Spring-term Adult language classes and Spring-term Children's language classes. Classes generally run 12 weeks meeting either 1.5 or 2 hours a week.

Mei-Ling Hopgood

My name is Mei-Ling Hopgood, and I'm the author of Lucky Girl, a memoir about about my surprise reunion and relationship with the birth family in Taiwan who gave me up for adoption when I was a baby. Lucky Girl is also about my American family and childhood in Michigan, and my experience as an Asian-American, and the untangling of the unlikely strands that formed my destiny as an Midwestern girl. It is has been named a May pick of the Month by Good Housekeeping Magazine, will be featured in Elle Magazine and is being reviewed by several national and regional newspapers and publications.

Join FCC Board of Directors

FCC is in urgent need of one more member to join the FCC Board of Directors. This is a wonderful opportunity to support our adoptive families. We meet once a month for a two hour meeting to plan events, bring information and activities to the membership. Any member is encouraged to inquire! We meet the first Monday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Even if you child is not home yet, please consider joining the team that helps bring so many wonderful events to our group, Families with Children from China. Serving on the board is a beautiful gift to give your child and the community!

Easter Bunny Training Camp!

Come learn the art of the traditional Easter Egg Hunt in a safe environment. Depending on the number of kids, we may split into a couple of groups based on age and ability. Little kids can practice spotting an Easter egg and putting it into their Easter basket. Older kids will learn advanced techniques such as the hip check and to throw an elbow … just kidding. We all will have a good time! Please plan to stay and play for a little while on the playground.

Who: All Members of FCC (free)
Non- FCC Members ($2 donation per child)
Children must have an adult with them to help.

What to bring: Your own Easter basket & 12 filled plastic eggs to share (per child).
Please do not bring plastic eggs you want back.

When: Saturday, April 11, 2009 – 10:00 (Sharp) to 12ish
